In 2022, travelers booked around 547 million nights in tourist accommodation online, over one and a half times the 2021 number and 7% more than in 2019, the last year before the pandemic, according to Eurostat figures published this week.

Key takeaways

  • The difference with 2019 is particularly marked in Sweden (+33%), France (+31%) and Belgium (+23%);
  • Fourteen EU countries, however, recorded a drop compared to 2019. The largest declines were seen in the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary and Ireland.
