Virtuoso data shows luxury travel recovering faster than rest of industry

The network’s preferred hotels are experiencing extremely high demand, with bookings 193% higher than in 2019 and 77% over 2022

May 25, 2023

At its 2023 Symposium, held last week in Montréal, Québec, luxury travel agency network Virtuoso shared proprietary data and insights before an audience of travel professionals from 35 countries that highlighted the industry’s recovery.

Key takeaways

  • Virtuoso bookings for 2023 are 91% higher than they were in 2019 leading into 2020, and 62% higher than 2022;
  • With Tourism Economics not predicting global travel and tourism recovery until the second quarter of 2024, Virtuoso sales indicate the demand for luxury experiences is leading the way forward;
  • Booking windows have also tightened, up to 64 days in advance, as opposed to 85 days in 2019 and 109 days at the beginning of 2021.
