An Apple search engine?

Unlike Google, Apples search engine could delegate the search to all the apps on your device

Jan 31, 2023

With iOS 16, Apple placed its search field on your home screen, trying to push people towards search.

And being Apple, the company is concerned more about relevancy than where the results came from, and they're happy to blend them together.

For example, you search for Madrid, and Apple thinks your intent might be to travel, so it is going to look in whatever travel app you have installed on your phone and blend the results with its own web index.

While Google's strengths is its huge web index they've build for 25 years, with a federated search approach, Apple can cater to many of the same intents without needing to replicate Google's web index and their rankings and all of that magic.
