In Europe, French and Spanish hoteliers benefit the most from OTAs
In particular independent accommodations benefit from OTAs by accruing a larger share of bookings than the market average
According to an Oxford Economics analysis of the European tourism market, online travel platforms were responsible for 42 million additional hotel night bookings in France between 2019 and 2021.
- France booked the highest number of additional room nights in Europe;
- Followed by Spain and Italy with 30 and 27 million further room nights respectively.
